What is a STSM

The Short Terms Scientific Mission is a COST tool aimed at strengthening the Action network by allowing researchers to visit an institution in another country member of the Action to foster collaboration. STSMs are  particularly intended for Early Stage Researchers (ESRs).

Duration

The duration of a STSM has to be at least one week (5 working days) and no more than 90 days. The Early Stage Researchers (ESRs) may extend the duration of the STSM beyond the 90 days, up to a maximum of 180 days.

The selection procedure

A STSM Committee was nominated at the beginning of Action IS1102 and put in charge of the selection process for the duration of the COST Action. The STSM Committee published 2 to 3 calls per year, allowing at least 15 days to submit applications (by e-mail).

Financial Support

The STSM grant covered travel and subsistence costs. The maximum amount awarded per grant was € 2.500. For the ESR (for a duration of more than 91 days) the maximum amount  awarded per grant was € 3.500.
